My name is Erin. I am an doula and herbalist  with extensive experience serving the needs of families in the Twin Cities area.
I've always been interested in natural healing, but it was the experience of pregnancy, birth and parenting my own child that motivated me to dive deeply into the world of natural health.   Now I'm a professional herbalist who has been studying and working with plants for over ten years.   I have studied with Sage Mountain and the East West School of Herbology and I've studied with Minnesota's most prominent herbalists and received my clinical training through a traditional apprenticeship. 

 

 As an herbalist, I am available for private consultation. I frequently work with women during the times of pregnancy, birth and postpartum and with many infants and children. I provide my clients with the highest-quality, handmade, wildcrafted  herbal products suitable for use during pregnancy and herbal

birthkits.  I am committed to safe, collaborative, respectful natural health care that treats the whole person.

 

I am also an active herbal educator, teaching classes not only on pregnancy and children's health but also plant identification, medicine making and other aspects of traditional herbalism.


I became a doula in 2001, 2 years after the satisfying homebirth of my daughter.  I had never experienced healthcare like homebirth midwifery before, friendly and caring, authentic, personalized, honest and collaborative.  I strive to bring those same qualities to my own work with families.

 

In 2003 I gave birth to my son, also at home and even more empowering as I brought to that birth the confidence of having given birth before. After a hiatus to focus on my own young family, I returned to birth, reentering private practice as a doula and as an apprentice and student of midwifery.


I've attended many births in hospitals and homes around the metro areas. I've been with VBAC moms, single moms, first time moms and moms of many.  I've been to swift and straightforward births, long and challenging births and everything in between. It is always an honor to be with families in childbirth.  I've met so many wonderful people in this work and enjoy watching them powerfully birth their babies and  grow in confidence as mothers.


I had great experiences breastfeeding both of my children.  I believe that breastfeeding offers mothers and babies so many benefits.  It saddens me to see so many women struggle through breastfeeding and often giving it up before they had planned to.  Breastfeeding doesn't have to be an ordeal, with gentle birth, sound information and common sense support breastfeeding can work for almost everyone.  All of my clients receive breastfeeding support and guidance. I continue this work in the community; I have been volunteer, accrediated La Leche League Leader since 2005.
